What the NMC Guidelines Say
As per the latest guidelines issued by the National Medical Commission (NMC) of India, all students wishing to pursue MBBS from a foreign medical university must qualify NEET. The following are the general qualifying percentile requirements:
- General Category: 50th percentile
- SC/ST/OBC: 40th percentile
- PH (Physically Handicapped): 45th percentile
Is a High Score Necessary?
Unlike Indian government medical colleges where NEET ranks directly determine admission, foreign universities do not rank students based on NEET scores for their admissions process. As long as a student has cleared the NEET qualifying cutoff, they are eligible to apply for MBBS admission abroad.
This makes MBBS abroad a practical and accessible pathway for students who have cleared NEET but did not secure a government seat in India.
